Where Shadow Chases Light is a selection of images from an ongoing, larger portfolio that has transpired spontaneously through utilising the discipline and way of seeing acquired through a background in analogue fine art photography, while using Instagram on an iPhone as a tool. Without taking the medium or the outcome seriously, I have recorded this particular selection images over a period 6 months in and around Cape Town, South Africa.
Using an iPhone as a camera, has enabled me to work in a free and random manner without the need for carrying a larger piece of equipment. This has been a wonderful way of keeping me in tune with the subject matter I am visually concerned with, whilst still applying my principles of fine art photography. Looking at this body of work, the overriding conclusion I have come to, is that at a higher level it doesn’t matter what photographic device is being used, either analogue or digital, the image transcends everything.
